Synopsis
A lone hit-man on a mission to kill shows respect for the first sip. A "Sin City" styled television commercial for Rooftop Red Lager.
In this commercial I directed the visual effects and worked with director Sebastien Guy who lead the team. It was my responsibility to storyboard the commercial and design / execute the visual effects. I also was the 1st Assistant Director on set. DP, Antony Gardiner took Silver for this ad at the ACS regional awards.
We spent a month in preproduction and then one day shooting on a green screen stage in Sydney. After the final edit was approved we spent another month and a half modelling the full Prague like city and creating the elements for compositing. During the process the company made the switch from Maya to Cinema 4D which helped save us from our lack of computing power. The final shot was too heavy for any of our machines to render, so I rendered out stills of the buildings at different angles and then arranged the shot in photoshop. Once the matt painting was complete, I used Projection Man in Cinema 4D to create basic geometry to hold the painting in 3D space which gave us the nice perspective shift on the final shot.

Visual Effects Breakdown
This is the full breakdown of the Red Roof commercial. This shows the process I went through from keying out the green screen to inserting the CG set pieces and assembling the composite.
